TWISTER Is A Small Twist on the Original
“TWISTER” 2024 starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos is the stand-alone remake of the 1996 original film that starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.
The story has a different flavor from the original. They both take place in Oklahoma. They both are storm chasers. Instead of the tornado claiming Jo’s father when she was a little girl, Kate is a college student, and while trying to prove a theory the tornado claims her boyfriend, Jeb, and two of her best friends Addy and Praveen. Only she and her friend Javi survive.
Years later Kate is working in a weather center and no longer storm chasing. Javi shows up and talks her into coming back out to Oklahoma for a week to help in his start-up storm-chasing business. She agrees and soon she is introduced to the showman and social media icon storm chaser Tyler Owens and his eclectic crew.
After a while, Kate finds that she and Tyler have more in common than she thought and together they fight for not only their lives but the lives of the town.
To be honest, I enjoyed this new twist on “Twister”, however, it lacks the villain of the 1996 film, the Tornado. This newer film focuses more on the relationships between the people and the tornado is an afterthought. In the 1996 version, the tornado was terrifying, and while there was a romantic component the tornado was the main focus.
I give TWISTER 3 winks of the EYE
