The Furious takes place in Asia. We aren’t told where in Asia. We follow a journalist, Matia (JeeJa Yanin), who is following a lead on children being kidnapped in this city. She is found out, and an amazing fight scene takes place.

Wang Wei (Mo Tse), a mute handyman whose daughter Rainy (Yang Enyou) is visiting him for, we assume, school vacation. Right before she is to leave to go back home to China, she is kidnapped by a ring of traffickers. Wang Wei runs in flip flops, catches the truck, and fights the bad guys, but they get away. He goes to the police station to report the kidnapping and is turned away.  He sets out on his own to find and rescue his daughter.

At the same time, Navin (Joe Taslim) is looking for his wife Matia, who has disappeared. He and Wang Wei team up to bring down the bad guys. That is pretty much it. Short on plot, too long on fight scenes.

What stood out to me: Wang Wei could run really fast in flip-flops.  It’s hard to kill people in Kung Foo movies, and the choreographed fight scenes, while too long, are amazing. It took me back to the Enter the Dragon days of Kung Fu films.

I’m giving THE FURIOUS 3 out of 5 winks of the EYE. I think Bruce Lee might be proud.  If you are a Kung Fu movie fan, you will really enjoy this film in the theaters.

Until next time, keep your EYE to the sky!
