DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Is What I Expected and More
First and foremost, “DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE” is R-RATED and not for children!!!! There is an uncountable amount of F-bombs and sexual innuendos. Now that is out of the way, it is hilarious.
Wade aka Deadpool has always dreamed of being an AVENGER when he is turned down, he removes is mask, staples on a toupee, and gets an everyday job selling cars. He isn’t very good at it but it’s his mundane life for now.
At his surprise birthday party, he gets an even bigger surprise when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) kidnaps him and takes him to Mr. Paradox who offers him a place on Earth 616. Wade is ready to put on his Deadpool costume again until he finds out that Mr. Paradox is planning to use his invention the “Time Ripper” to kill timelines. Wade’s timeline is being destroyed because his “anchor” Logan was killed. Soon Wade won’t exist. Wade steals Paradox’s TemPad and travels the multiverse to find the right Logan to save this timeline.
When he finds the right Logan, which is really the worst of all the Wolverines, he finds that he is an alcoholic superhero who let his universe down and he no longer will answer to Wolverine. Needless to say, after much banter and fighting Wade gets Logan back to the TVA where they are sent to the VOID. A place where no one returns.
More fighting, cursing, surprise cameos, crouch hits, ugly dogs with exceptionally long tongues, finding The Others, and betrayal ensues.
In the end, all is fair in love and Marvel.
This is a typical Deadpool film but with a lot of muscle. Ryan Reynolds, as always, brings Deadpool to life with just enough human feelings to make him loveable even at his worst. I had to get used to Hugh Jackman using the F-bomb so many times and easily, but it grew on me. Plus, his muscles blocked out some of it.
Shawn Levy did a great job directing these two great actors in bringing this film to life. He allowed both characters to explore their inner feelings of regret and even love. Truly opposites attract to make a solid friendship.
I give “Deadpool & Wolverine” 4 winks of the EYE. Remember, it is not for children.
Until next time keep your EYE to the sky!
